PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI), Southeast Asia’s only aircraft manufacturer, is showcasing its aerospace products, advancements in special mission aircraft and is eyeing an increased share of the global market at the ongoing LIMA. PTDI is emphasizing its core competencies in aircraft maintenance, modernization, and simulator development as part of its global expansion strategy to address the growing demand for integrated lifecycle support and pilot training across the region.
“We are committed to delivering end-to-end aerospace solutions. Our aircraft services and simulation programs are not just add-ons—they are essential pillars of our long-term strategy to support operators throughout the full aircraft lifecycle,” said Gita Amperiawan, President Director of PTDI. Building on this momentum, the company is showcasing its advancements in special mission aircraft—particularly in the development of Anti-Submarine Warfare platforms, rocket technology, and the amphibious variant of the N219, which is designed to support maritime operations and tourism applications, as well as its vision for future urban air mobility solutions.
A recent milestone for the Indonesian airframer is the successful conversion of three CN235-220 Military Transport aircraft for the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) into Maritime Patrol Aircraft (MPA) under the U.S. Maritime Security Initiative (MSI) programme. The airframer said that this further demonstrated PTDI’s expertise in aircraft upgrades and mission-specific adaptations.
PTDI’s Aircraft Services division continues to grow in both scale and reputation, with active market development initiatives in Africa and Latin America. While its U.S.-based subsidiary, IPTN North America Inc. (INA, Inc.), focuses on marketing and business expansion, the core competencies in comprehensive engine maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO)—including advanced turbine solutions—are driven by PT Nusantara Turbine & Propulsion (PT NTP), a PTDI subsidiary specializing in propulsion systems.
In the simulation domain, PTDI is accelerating the development of full-flight simulators and integrated training systems for its CN235 and N219 platforms, as well as rotary-wing aircraft developed through international partnerships. These simulators are designed to meet the highest training standards, enabling operators across the region to enhance pilot readiness, reduce training costs, and foster a sovereign, self-sustaining training ecosystem. To support this goal, PTDI has established strategic collaborations with several global aerospace companies that specialize in simulator technologies, ensuring access to cutting-edge innovations and international best practices. Since being established in August 1976, PTDI has successfully delivered more than 470 aircraft to many customers all around the globe.
