Rafael has developed a system that enables submarines to communicate with the navy’s headquarters while “Deep and silent”.

Submarine hunters, mainly surface ship and aerial platforms use the submarine’s need to go to the surface to locate and attack it.

“Float link” according to Rafael enables the submarine to Communicate with HQ or other units, while deep and stealthy “It has other advantages – it does not disclose submarine position and has no maneuverability limitations “a company sources said.

The FloatLink is ejected from the submarine, using its torpedo launching tubes. It gets to the sea surface.

A SATCOM antenna is then unfolded from the floating system and enables the two-way communications. “When the exchange of transmissions ends, the float link is self-destroyed. This minimizes the danger that the enemy will locate the submarine” the source explained.

In some scenarios, the submarine is an underwater base for “frogmen” or very capable fighters that leave the submarine to perform different missions under water or above them without being detected. The Float link is one of a series of systems Rafael developed to improve the underwater capabilities against a long list of threats.
