The Typhoon 30c Remote Weapon Station, developed by Israel's Rafael, was recently demonstrated in the U.S to an enthusiastic audience. The demonstration took place at the Bushmaster Users Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada, in April.
The live demo, attended by 20 global Bushmaster users, showcased the system's comprehensive suite of capabilities, including the single-shot drone kill using Northrop Grumman High Explosive Proximity (HEP) ammunition. During the demo, the Typhoon MK 30c RWS hit the target on the first round, showcasing its capability to neutralize drones at various ranges and its effectiveness in counter-unmanned aerial systems (C-UAS) operations.
Rafael also highlighted Typhoon 30c's adaptability by demonstrating it in a 20 ft. mission module configuration, paired with a Drone Detection Radar and Electro-optical sensors. This demonstration aligns with the company's commitment to delivering and installing its systems in modular configurations, ensuring flexibility and rapid deployment in diverse operational environments.
Typhoon 30c RWS is a combat-proven system that continues to undergo enhancements to address evolving battlefield challenges and the increasing threat of hostile drone attacks. Designed to protect strategic ground and naval assets, the system integrates advanced technologies to provide superior defense capabilities.
The system is equipped with advanced electro-optical targeting systems and automatic fire correction solutions for accurate engagement of aerial threats. It is compatible with various platforms, including naval vessels, ground vehicles, and fixed installations, and can be configured for different mission requirements.
According to Rafael, the modular design facilitates easy installation and integration on different platforms, with quick-connect interfaces for rapid deployment. Enhanced situational awareness is provided by state-of-the-art sensors, including thermal imaging, day/night cameras, and radar systems for comprehensive threat detection and tracking. The system's detection and tracking capabilities were enabled and enhanced by RADA's MHR RPS-42 radar and CONTROP's iSea-25 electro-optical payload.
The Typhoon family products have been deployed and operational in multiple countries worldwide, including the U.S., Canada, and Australia, with a track record of successful engagements in diverse operational scenarios. The Typhoon 30c RWS is part of a broader suite of defense solutions designed to meet the needs of modern military forces.
