Israeli defence companies are planning some ''adaptations'' to be ready for the "Rearm Europe" policy, which is now referred to as "Readiness 2030."
According to the policy, at least 40% of defence equipment should be purchased cooperatively, and by 2030, at least 50% of member states' procurement budgets (60 percent by 2035) should go to EU-based vendors.
Enhancing European defence capabilities is a commitment made by the European Union. The provision of strategic equipment, such as air and missile defence, artillery systems, missiles, ammunition, and drone and anti-drone systems, is given priority in the European Commission's "Rearm Europe" policy, which is currently referred to as "Readiness 2030." The stringent European budgetary restrictions would not apply to military spending.
Israeli defence companies. mainly major ones such as Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) , Rafael and Elbit, are preparing plans that will help them keep and increase the sales of their systems to European countries . All the major Israeli defence companies have European subsidiaries but according to industry sources, the understanding is that these will not be enough to keep and increase the level of sales.
The Israeli companies are in negotiations with European defence firms with the aim of establishing more joint ventures that will enable to offer the Israeli defence systems in accordance with the ' Rearm Europe'' policy. The policy resembles the "Make in India" policy that made many Israeli defence companies establish joint ventures in India that include the transfer of technologies.
The government of India launched the "Make in India" campaign to promote committed investments in manufacturing and to encourage businesses to design, produce, and assemble goods in India. The goal of the policy approach was to open up new industries for foreign investment, build a modern and effective infrastructure, and foster an atmosphere that is favourable to investment.
