Riyadh Air has teamed up with Lufthansa Technik for a comprehensive set of Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) services. Lufthansa Technik will support Riyadh Air over the next ten years with Total Component Support (TCS) for its expanding Boeing 787-9 fleet.
An agreement was signed by Adam Boukadida, Chief Financial Officer of Riyadh Air, and Dr. Christian Leifeld, Chief Financial Officer at Lufthansa Technik and responsible for its Digital Fleet Services, on the second day of the Dubai Airshow. The digital native airline recently decided to enter Lufthansa Technik's Digital Tech Ops Ecosystem by employing the latter's AMOS Maintenance & Engineering (M&E) software in its technical operations.
The TCS provides Riyadh Air with 24/7/365 access to Lufthansa Technik's global spare parts pool network, through which the airline can significantly increase the availability of
aircraft components for its 787 Dreamliners. The agreement not only covers general component MRO services in an open-loop exchange setup, but also a comprehensive AOG (Aircraft On Ground) support that guarantees Riyadh Air the shortest possible reaction times and a dedicated logistics support for time-critical components. The TCS for Riyadh
Air started with the entry-into-service of the airline's first 787 in October.
"Ensuring we have a strong partner in place like Lufthansa Technik for the provisioning of spare parts is critical to our operational performance," said Adam Boukadida. "As a start up airline, to minimize the impact of any technical issues, we need immediate access to a broad pool of aircraft components across the globe that are available 24/7 and ready for installation."
"We are delighted to accompany Riyadh Air on its impressive growth course, for which operational stability will be key. And that is exactly why we see ourselves as a strong partner, from the recent start via the upcoming ramp-up of its operations all the way on to
Riyadh Air's goal of connecting 100 global destinations by 2030," said Dr. Leifeld.
