Our Bureau - : Jul 23, 2025 - : 7:53 am

Roketsan, which is displaying more than 60 defense systems at IDEF, unveiled six new defense systems - AKATA Encapsulated Atmaca, GÖKBORA Beyond Visual Range Air-To-Air Missile, TAYFUN BLOCK-4 Hypersonic Missile, EREN High Speed Multi-Purpose Loitering Munition, 300 ER and the ŞİMŞEK-2 Space Launch Vehicle - on the opening day of IDEF 2025.

The AKATA is the submarine-launched version of the ATMACA Anti-Ship Missile, which is already in the inventory of the Turkish Armed Forces. Equipped with advanced technology, AKATA has a range exceeding 250 kilometers and features a high-explosive, blast-fragmentation warhead.

Designed for use on both manned and unmanned fighter aircraft platforms, GÖKBORA is poised to play a decisive role against enemy aerial threats. With its advanced guidance system and a range exceeding 100 nautical miles, it is set to become one of the primary strike assets of the air force, capable of countering a wide spectrum of airborne threats.

TAYFUN BLOCK-4 Hypersonic Missile is the BLOCK-4 Hypersonic version of the TAYFUN Missile, whichis Türkiye's longest-range ballistic missile produced with national capabilities.

EREN is a high-speed, multi-platform loitering munition that can be launched from UAVs, helicopters, land vehicles, naval platforms, and ground-based systems. It is capable of engaging low-speed aerial targets, armored and unarmored ground assets, as well as personnel. It has advanced guidance capability, an extended endurance in the air, and a range exceeding 100 kilometers,

Designed for integration with jet aircraft and UAV platforms, the 300 ER is an air-launched ballistic missile capable of reaching targets up to 500 kilometers away, depending on the release altitude and speed. The 300 ER can be equipped with multiple guidance options and warhead types depending on mission requirements. Its solid-fuel propulsion ensures high-speed, high-precision impact within a short response time.

Following the development of the ŞİMŞEK-1 Satellite Launch Vehicle, which is scheduled for its first test flight in 2027, Roketsan's new ŞİMŞEK-2 is designed to place satellites weighing up to 1,500 kilograms into sun-synchronous orbit at an altitude of 700+ kilometers.

“Roketsan has established itself as a global brand in rocket, missile, and munition technologies," said Roketsan CEO Murat İkinci. "Through intensive R&D efforts, we are pioneering new technologies while strengthening the deterrence and operational capabilities of the Turkish Armed Forces. The rising military conflicts and security crises in our region in recent years have once again highlighted the critical importance of advancing Türkiye’s defense capabilities. In response to these threats, Roketsan and its Turkish partners are building the country's ‘Steel Dome’ with advanced air defense systems, safeguarding our national airspace under a comprehensive security shield.

"From precision-guided munitions for UAVs to anti-tank missiles, air defense missiles to cruise missiles, naval systems to artillery solutions, our portfolio continues to expand and be integrated into the inventory of the Turkish Armed Forces. With each of these technologies, we remain committed to further strengthening our nation’s defense,” Akinci added.
