Russia’s Ministry of Defence (MoD) has announced that a number of new military equipment will be inducted into the armed forces in 2019.
State tests of the new Kornet-D1 anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) system are currently underway and it will be inducted into to Russian artillery units and airborne units.
“The anti-tank complex will be one of the first new high-precision designs, created in the interests of the Airborne Forces artillery units, which will significantly increase the firepower of the air assault and parachute parachute units,” a Russian MoD statement said.
The Kornet-D1 self-propelled anti-tank missile system makes use of a BMD-4M chassis, which can also be deployed on the battlefield by air.
Russian forces are now deploying a new over-the-horizon detection radar on combat alert duty.
The Konteiner radar can detect air targets in the sector of 240 degrees at a distance of over 2,500km
“Over the last five years the number of new radars entering the service with the troops has increased by more than 10 times. The number of automation systems increased by 30 percent. Every year, more than 70 modern and prospective radar stations and complexes are delivered to the radio-technical units”, Major General Andrei Koban, Commander of the Radio-Technical Troops of the Russian Aerospace Forces.
Troops of the Russian Central Military District are already inducting a new portable antitank radar.
The SNAR-10 M1 self-propelled radar, capable of detecting tanks at a distance of up to 40 km and will strengthen the combat capabilities of artillery units of Russian tank formations stationed in the South Urals.
SNAR-10 M1 radar can detect vehicles, manpower, exploding shells at a range of 200m – 40km and is designed for reconnaissance of moving ground, air and surface targets. The modern radar
The radar can be deployed into combat position in max 5.5 minutes and has a crew of four.
