SAAB is highlighting its JAS 39 Gripen jet fighter that the company is proposing for the Philippine Air Force’s Multi-Role Fighter (MRF) acquisition program at ADAS 2022.
As one of the two shortlisted jet fighter candidates to win the MRF contract, SAAB is confident that its JAS 39 fighter will provide the Philippine Air Force (PAF) with unmatched capabilities.
The Swedish defense and aerospace company highlighted the fighter’s capability to conduct multi-mission as well as its ability as a weapon launch platform that is not tied to a specific country’s products.
The Philippine Air Force is looking to procure up to 12 jet fighters as part of the Philippine Armed Forces Horizon II revised modernization programme until 2023.
SAAB is competing against US’ Lockheed Martin with their F-16V offering.
It has been expected that the Philippine government will announce the winning bid some time this year.
