Saudi International Airshow Postponed

The 2021 edition of the Saudi International Airshow has been postponed in consideration of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Saudi Aviation Club said the postponement was necessary to prioritise the safety of participants and visitors of the event, which was initially set to happen early next year at the Al-Thamima Airport in Riyadh.

“The economic impact of this situation makes it impossible to hold the event on the proposed dates of 16 – 18 February 2021. Consequently, the Saudi International Airshow 2021 will be postponed until further notice,” a statement from the show organiser said..

The Club said it had received confirmation of attendance from over 500 local and international exhibitors, but there were organisations that had reservations about the event because of the virus. More than 20,000 people attended the 2019 edition of the airshow, with 267 local and international companies present.

The event, which takes place at Al Thumamah airport just outside of Riyadh, was successfully launched in 2019 with more than 20,000 attendees and more than 250 exhibitors.

Organised by the Saudi Aviation Club, the 2021 event was eagerly anticipated to almost double in the number of companies participating.

“This difficult decision has been made in the interest of everyone involved. The organization committee will only proceed with giving you the best of Saudi International Airshow when it is absolutely safe to do so and can ensure the health, safety and security of all attendees and participants.

“The committee was convinced until recently that it would be able to overcome the challenge, we’re all facing with Covid-19 and believed Saudi International Airshow 2021, with the participation of around 500 registered exhibitors, would be able to be held. But, in recent days, some cancellations and warning signs from our exhibitors/partners and potential visitors have been received, making it impossible to hold the event next February,” it said.
