SDF and EOS to Form JV, Produce Multi-Platform Weapon System

SDF, the investment arm of Tawazun Economic Council, and EOS Defence Systems (EOS) are setting up a Joint Venture to design and develop a new multi-platform, lightweight, chain driven machine gun. The JV intends to develop a wide range product family based on the design and technology concept of the new 14.5 x 114 mm weapon system. The project will see an investment worth more than AED 200 million in the next few years. As part of the attempt to produce the system locally, the JV will work closely with existing UAE entities that have the relevant manufacturing capabilities. The new weapon system is expected to provide lighter weight, improved accuracy, lower stoppage, reduced recoil and enhanced logistic support. “This agreement stems from SDF’s commitment to support the development of the UAE’s strategic industries and contribute to the UAE economy through our developmental investment partnership module," said Tareq Abdulraheem Al Hosani, Tawazun CEO and Chairman of SDF.
