IAI which is showcasing its comprehensive range of maritime defence solutions at IMDEX, is also displaying its ‘Mini Harpy’ Multi-Purpose Tactical Loitering Munition at IMDEX, for the first time, marking the SE Asia debut for the weapon system. Company officials are confident of the prospects of the new loitering munition in the region.

While it looks like a Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), it performs the role of a missile in that it is launched from a canister launcher, allowing valuable warship real estate to be used for something else. The new loitering munition recently performed exceedingly well during a demonstration held in Israel for an export customer, company officials tell Daily News.

The loitering speed of the munition is between 55-85 knots. The Mini Harpy has a range of 100 km, a speed of 200 knots and carries an eight kg explosive warhead (penetrator or fragmentation).

The weapon is fitted with a EO/IR seeker and an anti-radiation seeker, which makes it unique in its class. The Mini Harpy weighs 40 kg and has an endurance of two hours.
