ST Engineering Signs LEAP-1B Engine Deal with CFM

: Feb 13, 2020 - : 5:14 am

ST Engineering’s Aerospace arm has signed an agreement with CFM International to provide MRO support for its LEAP-1B engine.

As part of the agreement, ST Engineering will have the rights to the use technical data to perform MRO work on LEAP-1B, the exclusive powerplant for Boeing 737 MAX.

ST Engineering is a licensed service centre for its CFM56-5B and -7B engines. The latest agreement builds on that relationship, expanding the company’s suite of MRO offerings in CFM engines to better support the global fleet. MRO infrastructure and capabilities for LEAP-1B engines, estimated to be ready by the end of 2020, will be set up at the Group’s aerospace facility in Singapore.

“We are always building on our MRO capabilities and strengthening our partnership with OEMs to better serve our customers and their evolving maintenance needs,” said Lim Serh Ghee, President of ST Engineering’s Aerospace sector.  “Our expanded capabilities will also position us well to capture new opportunities in the market.”

“It is a real pleasure to expand our association with ST Engineering to include the LEAP-1B engine,” said Gaël Méheust, President and CEO of CFM International. “We have had a very long, successful relationship with them through the CFM56 product line.”
