Fresh off its successful show at the recently concluded DIMDEX 2022 in Qatar, Turkey’s STM is at DSA 2022, highlighting its military naval platforms as well as tactical mini-UAV systems.
The company is showcasing Turkey’s first national frigate (the İstif (I) class frigate), MİLGEM corvette and CG-3100 coast guard ship. It is also seeking export opportunities for its tactical mini-UAV systems – the fixed wing tactical attack Alpagu, the rotary-wing attack Kargu and the multi-rotor ISR Togan. Turkey has been in Turkish service since 2018 while the lightweight Alpagu will be delivered to the Turkish armed forces in the near future.
“We are excited to exhibit our naval projects and striker mini-UAV systems in Malaysia that we have developed with our national engineering capabilities” said STM General Manager Özgür Güleryüz.
“With our innovative solutions and qual ified human resources, we want to sign important cooperative agreements in Asia and improve the defense capacities of friendly and brotherly countries.”
According to company officials, the company, which is also a major player in submarine modernization and construction projects, has its presence in more than 20 countries, from South America to the Far East. It produces surface and submarine platforms for Turkey and has also exported products to many friendly countries. Among the projects that it has carried out for the Turkish Naval Forces are the constriction of four MiLGEM Ada Class Corvettes, and the Test and Training Ship TCG UFUK (A-591). In the latter project, STM was the main contractor.
The company also was part of the team that worked on the first Logistics Support Ship that was commissioned by the Turkish Naval Forces in December last year. Besides working to deliver a second ship as part of the project in 2024, STM is also the main design contractor in the Turkish Type Assault Boat Project. Its new gunboat design, STM-MPAC, is built to perform surface and air defense warfare as well as reconnaissance/patrol missions at high speeds.
