Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) sees a big international market for its T625 Gokbey, a 6t utility helicopter. Earlier this year, Türkiye’s first indigenous multirole helicopter, conducted its debut international flight demonstration on the first day of FIA2024.
The T625 utility helicopter is being developed as part of the original helicopter program, coordinated by the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB). The helicopter is designed to undertake a diverse array of missions, including VIP transport, cargo transport, air ambulance services, search and rescue operations, and offshore transportation missions.
T625 Gokbey is the first utility helicopter developed and manufactured with indigenous capabilities. It successfully completed its inaugural flight on September 6, 2018. Subsequently, on April 19, 2023, the P1 Prototype of the T625 Gokbey Helicopter underwent its first test flight, powered by the TS1400 Turboshaft Engines developed and produced by TEI with indigenous capabilities.
Necessary work for the certification of the helicopter by the EASA (European Aviation Safety Authority) and the DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) is currently underway as part of the program. TAI General Manager Mehmet Demiroğlu said, “there is a serious demand for our product. We want to give export news for many of our platforms in a short time.”
