Teledyne FLIR OEM, a subsidiary of Teledyne Technologies Incorporated, has announced the release of Prism SKR, an embedded software designed for automatic target recognition (ATR) in guided weapon systems. The software is intended for use in loitering munitions, air-launched effects (ALE), counter-unmanned aerial systems (C-UAS), low-cost missiles, and other smart munitions.
Prism SKR, referred to as “seeker,” is designed to operate on low-power embedded processors and is compatible with both infrared (IR) thermal and visible camera data. It provides real-time information on target position, identification, movement direction, and aim-point localisation, supporting autonomous flight guidance in air-to-ground, ground-to-air, air-to-air, and ground-to-ground operations.
“Compatible with existing autonomy and navigation software via a Weapon Open System Architecture (WOSA) compliant interface, Prism SKR represents a significant leap forward in autonomous precision target detection, identification, and tracking technology for defence OEM developers and integrators,” said Dan Walker, vice president of product management at Teledyne FLIR OEM. “Additionally, developers can reduce development risk and costs with plug-and-play integration with the Prism embedded software ecosystem and Teledyne FLIR IR camera modules.”
The software is part of Teledyne FLIR’s broader Prism ecosystem, which supports detection and tracking through pre-existing models based on six million visible and thermal annotations. Custom target lists can be integrated using the Prism AIMMGen synthetic dataset and model training tools. Prism Supervisor, another component of the ecosystem, provides mission control and guidance functions where ATR is required.
Teledyne FLIR develops sensing solutions for defence and industrial applications. The company, founded in 1978, employs approximately 4,000 people worldwide. Teledyne Technologies, its parent company, operates in digital imaging, software, instrumentation, and defence electronics across the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Europe.
