Toshiba is showcasing a range of capabilities at the show, including its multi-mission surveillance radar, ELINT system (relocatable type), radar modules, and C-UAS solution.
The company’s portable C-UAS Solution is a packaged system that can be carried and immediately deployed by a minimum of two people. Designed for ease of use and advanced portability, it can detect and mitigate drone threats. According to the company, the equipment can be packed into portable cases without special tools or devices to set the system up. The solution is independent from fixed power supplies, thus making it ideal for deployment in diverse locations and situations.
Toshiba’s long-range radar, its newest radar, “sees threats long before they arrive,” according to the company. Specialized for detecting small drones, the radar can locate distant targets any time of the day, regardless of weather conditions. Another highlight is that the radar can detect "dark drones" that do not emit radio waves. From the radar’s location to the inbound drone’s, the radar measures the range, directions and altitude of the target. It creates the flight database of the target and improves the analysis of the object. The radar can target drones from up to 20km away. Its special signal processing method enables it to detect even low-speed drones, which are difficult to detect by ordinary radars.
The company’s RF solution uses invading drones' radio waves to detect them. It analyses the waveforms of multiple radio waves simultaneously and checks them against a database to detect signals emitted by drones. Another unique capability is that the system can detect radio waves emitted by drones in a full 360-degree circle. The solution can detect both direction and elevation angles of the drone.
The short and middle range radar, characterised by low size, weight and power, is easy to set up and operate, and optimized for temporary applications. According to company officials, multiple radars can be linked to a single system for expanded coverage. Ther radar’s adjustable and scalable detection grid can cover complex and large geographical areas. Threat assessment of detected targets provides reliable target classification and prevents false alarms.
Toshiba’s autonomous hunting drone eliminates dangerous drones physically by capturing them with its net guns and safely towing it to a safe location. The capture technology makes complete analysis and reconnaissance of the captured drone possible.
