TransNusa is set to become the first foreign airline to operate from Sultan Abdul Aziz Airport, commonly known as Subang Airport, in Malaysia. The airline will commence daily scheduled international flights between Jakarta and Subang on 1 August 2024, utilising a 174-seat Airbus A320.
"I am grateful for the opportunity to be the first foreign airline to start scheduled jet aircraft operations for international routes from Subang Airport. Starting today, we will be the only airline offering scheduled international flights from Terminal 3, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport to the airport Subang," stated Datuk Bernard, TransNusa Group Chief Executive Officer.
Tickets for the Jakarta-Subang route will be available starting on Tuesday (Jul. 16) from IDR 999,000 (around USD 61.79) through the company's official website, online travel agents (OTAs), and other travel agencies.
Initially, TransNusa will operate one daily flight from Terminal 3, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport to Subang Airport. Flight 8B 699 is scheduled to depart from Jakarta at 16:10, arriving at Subang Airport at 19:00. The return flight, 8B 698, will leave Subang Airport at 19:30 and reach Jakarta at 20:30.
Regarding the airline's existing operations, Datuk confirmed that TransNusa will continue its three daily scheduled flights to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and four weekly flights to Johor Bahru.
TransNusa had to halt operations in September 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic's impact on the aviation sector. The airline resumed services in October 2022 after receiving financial support from shareholders and installing a new management team. Within six months, TransNusa launched its first international route between Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur, celebrating the route's first anniversary on 14 April this year. By the end of last year, three additional international routes were introduced.
In 2024, the airline will not only celebrate its first year of operations in Kuala Lumpur but will also celebrate its first year of operations in three other international locations namely Johor, Malaysia, Singapore and Guangzhou, China.
Established in August 2005, TransNusa is one of Indonesia's domestic airlines. In December 2021, the company, under new management, shifted its focus from eastern Indonesia to popular destinations such as Jakarta, Bali, and Yogyakarta. TransNusa operates its routes with two aircraft types: Airbus A320 and Comac ARJ21.
