President Donald Trump will award the Congressional Space Medal of Honor to the four Artemis II astronauts Friday at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, the agency said.
The ceremony is scheduled for 11 a.m. EDT on Aug. 28, with NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman joining the president and crew.
NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover and Christina Koch, along with Canadian Space Agency astronaut Jeremy Hansen, completed a 10-day mission around the moon on April 10.
The mission was the first crewed test flight of NASA’s Orion spacecraft and the first human journey beyond the moon in more than 50 years. The astronauts also traveled farther from Earth than any previous crew, according to NASA.
Each crew member will receive the medal during the ceremony, which will be streamed live on NASA’s online platforms. Viewing information is available on NASA’s live coverage page.
