Two Indonesian Navy Warships Join IMDEX

The inaugural day of the ongoing IMDEX Asia witnessed the participation of two Indonesian Navy (TNI Angkatan Laut – TNI AL) warships. The KRI Bung Karno-369 and KRI Kerambit-627, participated representing the Indonesian Navy arrived in Singapore on Sunday (May 4).

The participation of the Indonesian Navy in IMDEX Asia 2025 is part of maritime diplomacy efforts that are in line with the emphasis of the Chief of Naval Staff (Kasal) Admiral TNI Dr. Muhammad Ali, that the Indonesian Navy is not only tasked with maintaining maritime sovereignty but also plays a role as an ambassador for defence diplomacy to strengthen strategic cooperation and global maritime policies.

The participation of the Indonesian Navy at IMDEX is also an effort to strengthen bilateral

cooperation with Singapore and expand maritime relations with the navies of 30 participating countries.

The KRI Bung Karno-369 is commanded by Lieutenant Colonel (P) Tomosa Uskarlind Larosa while KRI Karambit-627 is commanded by Lieutenant Colonel (P) Herwanto.

The KRI Bung Karno was built by Indonesia’s state-owned shipyard Karimun Anugrah Sejati and features armament that includes 40mm naval guns, 20mm autocannons, MBDA Mistral surface-to-air missiles. It can also accommodate an AS565 helicopter.

The KRI Kerambit-627 is the 4th 60M Fast Missile Ship (KCR) manufactured by PT PAL Indonesia and was handed over to the Indonesian Navy in 2019.
