University of Southern Queensland Installs PacSim NextGen FTD

: Aug 17, 2020 - : 8:15 am

Australian’s University of Southern Queensland recently took delivery of the latest PacSim NextGen EuroJet PS4.5 Flight Training Device (FTD). The EuroJet is a fully functional FTD based on the Airbus A320.

The device was commissioned at USQ’s Toowoomba Campus and was delivered in spite of strict country border travel restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Toowoomba is the site of the new Qantas Group Pilot Academy, which is located at nearby Wellcamp Airport. USQ is the only university in the world where students have the opportunity to undertake their flight training with the Academy.

It is the second device supplied by PacSim and complements the ProJet PS4.5 delivered to the Springfield Campus in Brisbane in 2017. The ProJet is based on the Boeing 737NG. At the official launch of the new FTD last month, Professor Paul Bates, Head of Aviation, said “The University of Southern Queensland is serious about aviation and is the only University in the Southern Hemisphere where students can choose to operate simulators based on both the Boeing 737 and the Airbus A320 in their first year at University. This gives our students a great head-start on their path to becoming an airline pilot.”

“Whilst Covid-19 looms large as a current threat to the aviation sector, USQ is focused on the future and we are confident that once the pandemic is over there will still be a strong demand for pilots.”

Pacific Simulators Head Office and factory is in Christchurch, New Zealand with offices in Sydney, Denver, Buenos Aires and Delhi.
