USN P-8A Walkaround at Le Bourget

: Jun 19, 2019 - : 4:43 am
The US Maritime Patrol Reconnaissance Office (PMA-290) conducted a walk-around tour of a US Navy (USN) Boeing P-8A aircraft which is on the static display at Le Bourget. “This year we will complete the delivery of our 8th lot of P-8A to the US Navy, complete our cooperative programme delivery of 12 P-8As to the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) and deliver our 1st jets procured by FMS to the UK’s Royal Force,” said Tony Rossi Captain USN, Maritime Patrol & Reconnaissance in a release shared at the event. The P-8A aircraft production line is at its current efficient full-rate and according to PMA-290, this is the ideal time for a new customer to join the programme. Since the Paris Air Show in 2017, FMS cases have been signed with Norway, New Zealand and South Korea In his statement, Rossi also informed that the US Navy continues to roll-out a series of pre-planned improvements taking advantage of the P-8As open architecture and built in space, weight, power and cooling margins. These phased capabilities will bring new sensors, networks processors, additional capabilities and weapons to the platform enabling the P-8A to execute full-spectrum Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW). The aircraft on display serial no:169002 is one of the newer airplanes in the USN fleet and features a number of improvements.
