Vietjet and Qazaq Air have announced the formation of a new airline brand, Vietjet Qazaqstan, as part of a strategic partnership revealed during the Kazakhstan–Vietnam Business Roundtable. The event took place during Vietnamese General Secretary To Lam’s state visit to Kazakhstan.
As part of the launch, Vietnam’s Ministry of Finance granted a Foreign Investment Registration Certificate to Vietjet subsidiary Aviation Holdings, allowing it to acquire a strategic equity stake in Qazaq Air. The partnership aims to support Vietjet’s international growth while strengthening bilateral ties between Vietnam and Kazakhstan, particularly in aviation, trade, and cultural exchange.
Vietjet Qazaqstan will be developed jointly by the two carriers, building on Qazaq Air’s existing operations. Designed as a low-cost carrier, the new airline is expected to enhance connectivity between Kazakhstan, Vietnam, Southeast Asia, and wider global markets. The project is intended to support Kazakhstan’s rising travel demand and to promote tourism, trade, and logistics across the region. It is also expected to contribute to local economic development by creating a significant number of skilled jobs.
At the same event, Vietjet Qazaqstan signed a Customer Services General Terms Agreement with Boeing to support its future Boeing 737 fleet. Boeing will provide a comprehensive suite of services, including software solutions, spare parts, technical assistance, and training for pilots and engineers. The agreement also includes support for aircraft modifications and upgrades to maintain operational safety and efficiency.
The new airline is expected to operate a fleet of at least 20 Boeing 737 aircraft and plans to implement modern operating models, digital management systems, and advanced training for its staff. Vietjet will provide continued technical and operational support.
Vietjet’s involvement brings operational expertise, access to advanced technologies, and international partnerships. The company’s investment in Kazakhstan highlights the broader role of Vietnamese enterprises in facilitating multilateral cooperation, technology transfer, and regional aviation development. It also reflects a strategy aimed at improving infrastructure and enhancing competitiveness within Central Asia’s aviation sector.
The initiative follows Vietjet’s earlier success with Vietjet Thailand, now one of Thailand’s prominent low-cost carriers.
