Vietjet Gains Great Profits from Ancillary Revenue

: Sep 23, 2019 - : 7:37 am

Vietjet was ranked 12th globally in its ancillary revenue to total air transport revenue ratio in the 2019 CarTrawler Ancillary Revenue YearBook (*), which includes official statistics of audited financial statements from more than 100 airlines around the world.

Vietjet’s audited business results of H1 of 2019 showed that its passenger transport revenue stood at VND 18,984 billion (approximately USD 814 million), an increase of 17 per cent year-on-year. The budget airline’s ancillary revenue for passenger transport reached VND 5,429 billion (approximately USD 233 million), an increase of 43 per cent year-on-year, attributing to the growth of international customers. The proportion of ancillary revenue to total air transport revenue was 27 per cent.

According to the sustainable development model of low-cost carriers (LCCs), ancillary revenue is a decisive factor in the success of a carrier when profit margin reaches over 90 per cent.

Aiming to expand its services with continued sustainable development, Vietjet has plans to provide ground services for its aircrafts at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi from 2020. This will in turn improve service quality and ancillary revenue, benefiting both customers and the airline.

Vietjet aims to reach Top 5 in ancillary revenue in the future.
