Vietjet Aviation Joint Stock Company (HOSE: VJC) has reported solid financial and operational growth for the first quarter of 2025, underpinned by robust international expansion and increased flight activity. The airline saw a 24% year-on-year (YoY) increase in consolidated pre-tax profit, highlighting continued post-pandemic recovery and regional competitiveness.
The carrier plans to launch direct flights between Singapore and Phu Quoc by the end of May, joining existing routes from Singapore to Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and Da Nang. With this addition, Vietjet will operate 78 weekly one-way flights between Vietnam and Singapore.
In Q1 2025, Vietjet posted consolidated revenue of VND17.95 trillion (approx. SGD896 million) and a pre-tax profit of VND836 billion (approx. SGD41.7 million), both representing a 24% YoY increase. Air transport revenue stood at VND17.92 trillion (approx. SGD892 million), with pre-tax profit up 25% YoY.
Ancillary services contributed significantly, generating over VND6.22 trillion (approx. SGD310 million), which made up more than 35% of the total revenue.
During the quarter, the airline operated nearly 38,700 flights and carried more than 6.87 million passengers, showing respective increases of over 12% and 9% compared to the same period last year. Vietjet's network comprised 137 routes — 40 domestic and 97 international.
Vietjet expanded its fleet to 106 aircraft after adding two new units in the quarter. The airline maintained an average seat load factor of 87% and a technical reliability rate of 99.72%.
It also opened four new international routes from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Beijing, Guangzhou, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad. Additional international services are scheduled to begin later this year, including Phu Quoc–Singapore on 30 May and Ho Chi Minh City–Auckland in September.
As of 31 March 2025, Vietjet reported total assets of VND98.77 trillion (approx. SGD4.93 billion), with a debt-to-equity ratio of 2.12 and a liquidity ratio of 1.5 — both considered within acceptable limits for the aviation sector.
Vietjet launched its first flight to the United States earlier this year, paving the way for strategic partnerships with American firms worth approximately US$14 billion (SGD18.15 billion). Its total cooperation value, including existing deals with Boeing, GE, and Pratt & Whitney, is now close to US$50 billion (SGD64.78 billion). The airline also signed a US$300 million (SGD388.67 million) aircraft financing agreement with Carlyle Aviation Partners.
Vietjet delivered more than 60 tons of humanitarian aid to Myanmar and collaborated with a Vietnamese bank to fund the construction of 500 homes for low-income families.
On the service and innovation front, its SkyJoy loyalty programme received the “Best Use of Digital Technology” award at the 2025 Asia Pacific Loyalty Awards. The airline also won three international HR awards and was named “World’s Best Ultra Low-Cost Carrier 2025” by AirlineRatings, which also included it among the world’s safest airlines.
Vietjet’s combination of solid financial results, network expansion, and industry recognition places it on track to meet or exceed its 2025 performance targets.
