The non-exclusive maintenance services agreement will include overhaul of the airline’s V2500 engines that are offered through IAE International, whose shareholders include whose shareholders comprise Pratt & Whitney, Pratt & Whitney Aero Engines International GmbH, Japanese Aero Engines Corporation and MTU Aero Engines.

“It is important to Vietnam Airlines that we have the highest quality maintenance services performed on our fleet of V2500-powered aircraft,” says Dang Ngoc Hoa, executive vice president of Vietnam Airlines.

The 22,000-33,000lb of thrust V2500 is available in seven different thrust settings to power the Airbus A319, A320 and A321 as well as the A319 corporate jet.

The airline has been running the V2500 since 2003. The aircraft operate on major domestic routes between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City and on regional routes serving Hong Kong, Taipei, Bangkok and Singapore.

Dan Kirk, senior director of sales at the Pratt & Whitney says the first V2500 engine aftermarket agreement with Vietnam Airlines will “help the airline manage its fleet more efficiently.”
