Malaysia Airlines announced its partnership with RECARO Aircraft Seating to equip its upcoming Airbus A330neo aircraft with the CL3810 economy class seat on Wednesday (Apr. 3). This decision positions the airline as the first Southeast Asian carrier to introduce this type.
“We are thrilled to once again collaborate with Malaysia Airlines, a carrier known for its commitment to providing an exceptional travel experience,” said Dr. Mark Hiller, CEO of RECARO Aircraft Seating and RECARO Holding. “The CL3810 is a testament to our dedication to passenger comfort and aesthetic design, and we are proud to see it become an integral part of Malaysia Airlines’ A330neo.”
“We are excited about the induction of the A330neo into our fleet, which will not only provide modernity but also a significant enhancement in cabin comfort and practicality for our valued customers,” said Ahmad Luqman Mohd Azmi, CEO of Airlines from Malaysia Aviation Group. “Among the many highlights to anticipate is the introduction of the RECARO CL3810 Economy Class seats, designed with ergonomic precision and innovative features to ensure optimal comfort and functionality; akin to a long-haul aircraft.”
“We look forward to setting a new standard on what it means to deliver unparalleled customer satisfaction onboard Malaysian Hospitality,” he added.
The RECARO CL3810 has won both the iF Design Award and the Focus Open Gold Award due to its lightweight construction aimed at enhancing passenger experience and operational efficiency. With a weight reduction of nearly 15% compared to its predecessor, the type promises significant fuel savings for airlines while optimizing cabin performance.
The seat boasts features such as pitches ranging from 31 to 36 inches, a 6-inch recline, a 13.3-inch in-flight entertainment system, and individual power access at each seat with both USB-C and USB-A ports. Additionally, seat cushions incorporate layered foam and ergonomic technology, a six-way adjustable headrest, and a Comfort+ seat bottom with articulation aimed at enhancing the passenger experience during long-haul flights. Furthermore, the unique slim backrest design will offer an additional inch of knee space.
Malaysia Airlines plans to receive over 5,000 CL3810 units adorned in its signature songket motif for linefit installation on its A330neo aircraft, beginning in Q3 2024 and continuing through to 2028. These seats will feature custom trim and finish, incorporating Malaysia Airlines’ signature songket motif.
