Our Bureau - : Feb 12, 2025 - : 11:13 am

The Brazilian airframer Embraer, has announced that it will open an Indian subsidiary in New Delhi in the 2nd quarter of this year. The move will aid Embraer’s efforts along with local partner Mahindra Defence, in their offer of the C-390 ‘Millennium’ transport aircraft for an Indian Air Force (IAF) requirement for a new Medium Transport Aircraft (MTA) to
replace its ageing Russian-origin Antonov An-32 and Ilyushin IL-76 fleet. Speaking at a press conference held at the ongoing airshow, Bosco da Costa Junior, President & CEO, Embraer Defence & Security, stated that Embraer would look to establish
India as a regional hub for tactical transport aircraft to meet the demand for such types in
the region. Speaking to the assembled media, Sankalp Shrivastava, Head of Defence, Embraer India, said localization was a key aspect of Embraer’s C-390 offer for India. Embraer has received 42 firm orders for the C-390 and its variants, of which 10 aircraft have been delivered to Brazil (7), Portugal (2) and Hungary (1).
