Alpha Aviation Group (AAG), one of Asia’s pilot training providers, is to undertake an $11m (USD) investment in its simulator training facilities, including the purchase of a brand-new Airbus A320 Full Flight Simulator.
Christopher Magdangal, AAG Regional Director for Asia-Pacific, said, “The projects are in line with AAG’s continuing commitment to provide world-class training solutions to its partners.
“These investments are part of our advocacy to help proper the Philippines into becoming the region’s premier aviation training hub.”
The acquisition of the simulator will see the number of simulators operated by Alpha Aviation Group rise to six – the most of any pilot training provider in the country.
The new flight simulator, which is expected to be ready for training (RFT) by 2019, comes with full Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT) capability, and with both A320 New Engine Option (NEO) and Current Engine Option (CEO) capability.
The investment will also see the expansion of AAG’s existing simulator training centre, which is currently a major component of the group’s operations.
The simulator training centre extension building is designed to house four simulator bays, and is equipped with world-class amenities.
The ground-breaking investment has been financed via an agreement between Alpha Aviation Group, the Bank of Philippine Islands (BPI) and BPI Century Tokyo Lease and Finance Corporation.
Another investment will cover the acquisition of more Cessna 172S G1000 basic flight trainer aircraft and one A320 Integrated Procedure Trainer, taking the total number of AAG training aircraft to 26 towards the end of 2019.
AAG currently operates one Alsim Flight Navigation Procedure Trainer (FNPT) II, one Aerosim A320 Basic Instrument Training Device (BITD)/Integrated Procedure Trainer (IPT), one MPS A320 Fixed Base Simulator (FBS), one (1) CAE A320 Full Flight Simulator (FFS) EASA Certified Level D, and one CAE A330/340 Full Flight Simulator (FFS) EASA Certified Level D.
Every year, AAG train hundreds of new pilots for its airline partners. AAG is currently training more than 300 pilots and most of its more than 800 graduates are now flying with leading regional airlines including Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific and Air Asia Philippines, among others.
