Air Vanuatu to Resume Scheduled Charter Flights

: Aug 5, 2024 - : 9:35 pm

Liquidators for Air Vanuatu (Operations) Limited (In Liquidation) have announced that the airline will resume a reduced service via scheduled charter flights beginning in the week of 5 August 2024. This marks a step towards fully reinstating the airline’s domestic services.

This development follows last month’s restart of Air Vanuatu’s training and verification flights, supported by the Civil Aviation Authority Vanuatu and the Vanuatu Government.

Details regarding the charter flights, including the schedule and booking process, will be provided to the public soon. Passengers should note that pre-liquidation tickets will not be valid for these flights.

A full resumption date for Air Vanuatu’s domestic operations will be announced once all necessary conditions are met. The airline’s domestic services are essential for the approximately 300,000 residents spread across more than 60 islands in the country.

“The resumption of Air Vanuatu flights is crucial for the airline’s restructuring,” said Liquidator Morgan Kelly, Partner in Strategy & Transactions at EY. “Air Vanuatu is committed to restarting services safely and reliably. The planned charter flights represent a key step towards the complete return of domestic services. We appreciate the support from the Civil Aviation Authority Vanuatu and the Vanuatu Government in this important endeavour.”

The timing for the resumption of international operations remains to be determined.
