AirAsia announced to increase the seating capacity from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur on a wide-body Airbus A330 which seats 377 passengers; an increase of 197 passengers per sector. The twice-daily flights will commence on 10 November 2019.
The widebody aircraft belongs to the LCC’s long-haul subsidiary AirAsia X, which will add 377 more seats per sector, an increase of 197 seats. Currently, all 9X-daily Singapore-KUL services are flown with the group’s A320, which seats 180 passengers.
AirAsia Regional Commercial Head, Amanda Woo said: “We are very excited about the commencement of flight services using our fleet of wide-body aircraft Airbus A330 in response to the increased demand for Kuala Lumpur bound, all thanks to the constant support of our passengers. Ahead of the Visit Malaysia Year in 2020, we hope to be able to contribute and help to promote Malaysia tourism with our value fares. Guests can also look forward to trying out our award-winning premium flatbed and other perks at attractive prices.”
This year to date, AirAsia has flown over 1 million passengers on Singapore – Kuala Lumpur sector with 24 per cent being Singapore passport holders; recorded a steady 14 per cent y-o-y increase. As part of the effort to ease the overwhelming demand, AirAsia doubles up the seating capacity with the addition of close to 400 seats per day through the operation of its wide-body aircraft.
