Airborne Technologies, Smith Myers to Equip Twin Otter for European Law Enforcement

Airborne Technologies and Smith Myers have announced a new integration contract to equip a De Havilland Twin Otter aircraft with a complete sensor suite and two advanced Airborne LINX workstations for a European Law Enforcement Agency.

Wolfgang Grumeth, CEO of Airborne Technologies, commented, “We look forward to working again with Smith Myers and delivering a modern and leading-edge equipped surveillance aircraft that is perfectly tailored to the customer’s needs.”

The aircraft will feature two dual-screen operator workstations, an observer station, and an Airborne LINX Mission Management Unit, ensuring exceptional functionality and efficiency.

In addition to the Smith Myers ARTEMIS+, the comprehensive AIRBORNE LINX surveillance suite integrated into the aircraft will include the following advanced components: the Flir Star SAFIRE EO/IR system, IMSAR Radar System, ECS Downlink, SHOTOVER Moving Map, AEM Mission Digital Audio System, and a Radio Communication Suite.

“This is not our first integration with our partners at Airborne Technologies. But this will be the first for our newly released ARTEMIS+, marking another significant milestone of success with our friends at Airborne Technologies,” stated Andrew Munro, Managing Director, Smith Myers.

This significant contract, announced at the Farnborough International Airshow, will see deliveries commence in 2025.
