Aircraft recycling

: Jan 10, 2014 - : 1:05 pm

KLM Engineering has unveiled a new aircraft dismantling and recycling facility in Norwich, UK. The facility is one of only a few of its kind in Europe, and can handle Boeing 737s, Airbus A320s, Fokker50/70/100s and BAe 146/Avro RJs. Serviceable components will be reconditioned, and bodywork will be cut up and recycled.

The centre will initially handle 12 aircraft per annum, rising to 24 per annum. “We have customers queuing up,” said Dave Spalding, KLM UK sales director. “The industry has 12,000 aircraft needing to be scrapped in the next 20 years; we see huge potential for our new facility.”
