Aircraft Propeller Service, LLC, one of the world’s leading commercial propeller Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) organizations, announced that it has signed a major contract with the Brazilian Army to overhaul approximately 300 Airbus Helicopter main and tail rotor servo actuators for Fennec AS350/550 and Panther AS365 aircraft.
The Brazilian Army fleet, currently consisting of 97 Helicopters (34 Panther AS365, 35 Fennec AS350/550, 4 Black Hawk S70, 8 Cougar AS532 and 16 Super Puma H225M) is the largest fleet of helicopters among all Latin America countries for both civil and military operators. APS Brazil, a subsidiary of Aircraft Propeller Service, LLC, is the only repair station in Latin America licensed and authorized by the OEM to perform third level maintenance (overhaul) for Airbus Helicopter Main and Tail Rotor Servo Actuators manufactured by Collins Aerospace (formerly UTC Aerospace Systems).
According to APS President and CEO Dan Colbert, “The Brazilian Army deal is a multi-million dollar contract that gives APS Brazil more opportunities to expand its portfolio and strengthen its presence in South America. We’re proud of APS Brazil’s reputation as a world class MRO organization, and this achievement on behalf of Airbus Helicopter and Collins Aerospace is a major milestone for the business.”
In 2017 APS Brazil expanded its portfolio to include helicopter servo actuators and made significant investments in new test equipment, tools, parts provisioning, as well as technician training to support the civil and military helicopter markets. In addition to the military award mentioned, APS Brazil already supports the country’s largest FBOs: Helibras, Leonardo Helicopter, Helisul, Helipark, Helicidade, Líder, Icon, Claro, Copters, Fênix, Rotors and others, overhauling hundreds of helicopter servos since start up.
APS Brazil General Manager Fabio Renato Rossi do Nascimento stated, “The Brazilian Army bid process was very complex and took several months to complete. Other repair stations in Brazil that are not licensed by Collins Aerospace, competed with APS, but APS presented a better value proposition in terms of price, TAT, quality and customer support. APS is also the only shop able to offer the Brazilian Army a partnership with the OEM, Collins Aerospace, and ensure usage of original parts, maintenance of Brazilian Army products using Level III Maintenance Manuals, contact with the OEM’s engineering group for troubleshooting, and more. APS Brazil is now looking to address the other two military services, the Brazilian Air Force and Brazilian Navy, which together have combined fleets of approximately 40 Airbus Helicopter Squirrel AS350 aircraft.”
