Fincantieri and the Qatar Emiri Naval Forces (QENF) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the recently concluded-DIMDEX 2024 to start discussions on potential supply of education and training courses for Qatar Navy personnel.
The MoU was signed between the General Director of Naval Ships of Fincantieri, Dario Deste , and Major General Abdulla Hassan Al-Sulaiti Commander of the Qatari Emiri Naval Forces. The Group and the Qatar Navy will continue dialogue on contents and methods so that Fincantieri can continue to provide and improve cutting-edge Italian training and training modules to the QENF.
The modules will be based on an innovative training and education approach and the constant growth of the Qatar Navy’s maritime capabilities, while ensuring full integration and interoperability with Qatar’s land and air military capabilities and allied foreign navies.
In June 2016, the Qatar Armed Forces and Fincantieri signed a contract for the construction of seven naval vessels and the provision of in-service support, integrated logistic support, technical training for crews and basic maintainers and operational training for crew and courses language for each ship, as well as related food, accommodation and infrastructure.
Fincantieri has delivered six ships and provided part of the activities indicated, including part of the training of Qatar Navy personnel (technical training for crews and basic maintainers and operational training for crews).
