IDEX – NAVDEX 2019 Gets Underway

The 2019 editions of the IDEX – NAVDEX defence exhibitions are expected to be the biggest ever. The biennial IDEX – NAVDEX defence exhibitions are held under the patronage of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.


According to the organisers there has been a growth in the number of exhibitors this year. The previous edition of the show saw deals worth a whopping Dh. 19.7 billion being inked.


In addition to a growing number of exhibitors who are interested in the UAE defence market, IDEX – NAVDEX attracts several global defence specialists, including defence ministers, senior government officials, high-ranking military officers, eminent academics and leaders of renowned defence companies from around the world.


IDEX having completed 25 years since its inception in 1993, is celebrating its silver jubilee year.


In addition to IDEX, the number of participating military units for NAVDEX features an increase in the presence of naval vessels and the displays will range from frigates, supply vessels and transport vessels to naval minehunters and naval patrol boats.


The 2019 edition will also see the participation of four countries for the first-time including China, Saudi Arabia, Thailand and South Korea, highlighting the importance of NAVDEX, as the most important maritime defence exhibition in the Middle East.


More than 100 companies are taking part in NAVDEX this year.
