JAL Picks Safran Wheels and Brakes for A350

: Jul 25, 2018 - : 1:07 am

Japan Airlines (JAL) has selected Safran Landing Systems wheels and carbon brakes for its new Airbus A350-900 fleet. The 18 aircraft (and 5 options) are due for delivery starting 2019.

Besides its advantages in terms of weight and fuel efficiency, Safran Landing Systems A350-900 carbon brake features a coating that makes it oxidation-resistant. Its thermal capacity and design allow better energy absorption as well as faster cooldown, for shorter turnaround times (TAT) and increased fleet availability.

“The A350- 900 aircraft will play an important role for JAL,” said Atsushi Maeda, Executive Procurement Officer of Japan Airlines. “We believe this agreement will provide us stable and safe operations at the highest level for our valued customers. Furthermore, it provides us an added advantage to optimize our maintenance costs, while enhancing the long-term partnership with Safran Landing Systems.”

“We are delighted that Japan Airlines chose to work with us, and this new deal testifies to their level of trust, as we already equip their Boeing 767 and 777 LR fleets,” said Jean-Paul Alary, CEO of Safran Landing Systems.
