Japan Airlines (JAL), which will soon operate the A350 XWB, has signed a operator has signed a Flight Hour Services (FHS) contract with Airbus.
The contract between Airbus and JAL is for the FHS Components Services program and will cover the airline’s new fleet of 31 A350-900 and A350-1000 aircraft. JAL will become the first Airbus FHS A350 XWB operator in Japan to benefit from the Airbus FHS service.
The Japanese carrier plans to introduce the A350-900 on its Haneda-Fukuoka route from September 2019. Airbus FHS will provide fully integrated component services including spare pool access, on-site-stock replenishment at the main base and components repair.
Through FHS, Airbus offers airlines its extensive and proven expertise in fully integrated maintenance services, and the advantage of its OEM expertise as well as one single interface to manage their whole fleets and associated component support operations.
The FHS announcement comes only days after Airbus announced that the first JAL A350-900 has begun final assembly at its Toulouse factory. The aircraft is scheduled for delivery later this year. Airbus currently maintains global spares pools at Miami, Sao Paulo, London, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, and Hong-Kong. The FHS program currently has 26 customers worldwide and more than 650 aircraft contracted.
