PACSIM to Deliver Jet Simulator to First NZ Flight School

: Feb 26, 2018 - : 1:59 pm

Ardmore Flying School have signed a deal that will see them as the first flight school in New Zealand with a jet flight training device.

The simulator will be a EuroJet PS4.5 (A320) supplied by Pacific Simulators (PACSIM) based in Christchurch, to the school in Auckland.

Ardmore has been experiencing an increasing demand in international students over recent years and the new simulator is seen as the ideal tool to provide airline bridging and jet orientation training to attract even more cadets from overseas.

According to projections from both Boeing and Airbus, almost 700,000 pilots are required to fill demand in the commercial aviation sector over the next 20 years. This is more than the number of commercial pilots that have been trained in the history of aviation. Countries like NZ, Australia and the USA are chosen due to their history of producing top-class pilots, English language and overall quality training methods and culture.

“We have been working with PACSIM for a while now and our plans have finally come to fruition. Whilst it’s a big step for us, with the global demand for pilots showing no signs of abating and many airlines choosing New Zealand for training, we decided now is the right time”, said Mike Newman, Ardmore’s CEO.

“Working with a New Zealand-based manufacturer is perfect. We have chosen the EuroJet PS4.5 which is their top of the range device and ideal for pilots heading to an airline with Airbus A320 aircraft. Asian airlines are particularly fond of the A320 and Air New Zealand have a fleet of 30 A320’s with more on the way. It will be a terrific chance for pilots to complete their Ab Initio training and then progress onto the jet simulator, so they are prepared for the next step. In other words, they will be ‘airline ready’ when they leave our school.”

Our first EuroJet was certified by the FAA in Miami last year and is predominantly being used for training Latin American students destined for airlines with Airbus fleets. To have one much closer to home is ideal for us,” said Iain Pero, Director of Sales and Marketing for PACSIM.
