PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Airbus to explore the expansion of Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) capabilities for helicopters and military aircraft delivered from PTDI. This MoU is a continuation of the agreement signed in September 2022 regarding the production of Aerostructures. The signing of the MoU was witnessed by the Indonesian Minister of Defense, Prabowo Subianto at the Function Room Hall D Indo Defense Expo and Forum 2022.
In this MoU, Airbus Defence and Space and Airbus Helicopters will work with PTDI in a programme to improve MRO services that can make operations at PTDI become more efficient. PTDI currently supports a number of fleets operated by the TNI and other government agencies for the CN235 and NC212i aircraft as well as cooperation products with Airbus Defense and Space such as the C295 and H225M.
“PTDI is developing a new potential MRO business and we reached this initial agreement with Airbus. We believe that this collaboration can improve PTDI’s ability as a provider of MRO services in the helicopter and aircraft segment throughout Indonesia and its surroundings,” said Gita Amperiawan, President Director of PTDI.
“Airbus has been a partner of PTDI for four decades. We are committed to providing the best products and services to PTDI to support its business success, through efforts to improve capabilities in areas such as MRO and training. Airbus is very pleased to be able to support PTDI in expanding its business related to MRO helicopters and aircraft in Indonesia,” said Dani Adriananta, Airbus Chief Representative of Indonesia.
There is also the possibility of expanding the scope of this MoU to support other Airbus products such as the H145M. More than 500 units of the H145M military variant are operated by military forces worldwide, making it the light multirole helicopter of choice from countries such as Cyprus, Germany, Hungary, Luxembourg, Serbia, Thailand, and the United States.
