: Feb 21, 2018 - : 6:20 am

Qatar Airways has taken delivery of its first A350-1000 widebody airliner in Toulouse, France.

The airline was the launch customer for the A350-1000 and will be the first airline to introduce the aircraft into service.

It is also the largest customer for the type.

“Qatar Airways always demands the very best for its customers, so it is right that we are the first airline in the world to fly the Airbus A350-1000,” said Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, Akbar Al Baker.

Qatar Airways has a total of 37 A350-1000s on order and all aircraft will be fitted the airline’s revolutionary new Qsuite seats, offering the first ever double bed in Business class.

The airline has ordered 76 A350 XWB Family jetliners till date and 20 A350-900s are already in service. Qatar Airways has configured its A350-1000s to offer 44 more seats.

“This delivery marks another significant day in our partnership with the airline and the manufacturer as the new aircraft is powered by the most powerful engine ever developed for an Airbus aircraft, the Trent XWB-97,” said Chris Cholerton, Rolls-Royce President – Civil Aerospace.

As Airbus’ latest and largest widebody in the twin-aisle story_category, the A350-1000 has a fuselage that is 7-metre longer than the -900 and has 40% more space for premium cabin products.

It is a truly long-range aircraft with a range of 8,000nm (14,800 km) at entry into service.

The A350-1000 can be identified by its modified wing trailing-edge, new six-wheel main landing gears and more powerful Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97 engines.
