ScioTeq has launched RDU-4208 LAD, its new full redundant Large Area Display (LAD) that can be deployed in new cockpits and also used for cockpit upgrades.
According to the company , RDU-4208 LAD is fit for extreme environments as seen in trainers, fighters, military air transport and all rotary wing platforms. Jan Deraedt, product manager, is confident that the new LAD will become the new market standard.
“The full redundant LAD can be deployed in new cockpits, but is also perfect for cockpit upgrades, e.g. with its color tuning capabilities allowing to mimick existing display color performance,” said Deraedt. “Because of the minimized SWaP-C signature, the RDU-4208 LAD is fit for installation in very confined spaces like in trainer and fighter cockpits, never interfering with the ejection seat trajectory. As with all ScioTeq avionics grade displays, the LAD is certifiable to DO-178C Level A for software, and DO-254 Level A for hardware.”
Because of the in-house developed backlight technology, the Large Area Display is NVIS class B and A compliant, and does not compromise on the full color gamut performance in DAY mode. The display output stays the same over time and temperature because of the white point stabilization. The in-house optical bonding of the display makes sure that the reflections are minimized, resulting in a full sunlight readability at minimal power consumption.
The keyboard is front mounted, for easy on-aircraft replacement. The redundant multi-touch touch screen is compatible with any type of stylus including all types of gloves, and operates even in the harshest EMC environments. The LAD is full MIL-STD qualified (Environmental qualification to MIL-STD-810G, EMI/EMC qualification to MIL-STD-461E and power qualification to MIL-STD-704E)
