ST Engineering has secured an exclusive 15-year contract with India’s Akasa Air to provide maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services for the LEAP-1B engines that power the airline’s Boeing 737 MAX fleet. The agreement covers Akasa Air’s current fleet of 25 aircraft as well as 201 additional planes to be delivered over the next eight years.

Under this partnership, ST Engineering will deliver the first Performance Restoration Shop Visit (PRSV) service for Akasa Air’s LEAP-1B engines at its aerospace facility in Singapore. The company’s recently expanded capabilities in LEAP-1B engine maintenance, including new testing capacity, will ensure ongoing support for the airline’s operational growth and engine efficiency.

Daniel Saldanha, Vice President, Maintenance and Engineering at Akasa Air, said, “We are thrilled to partner with ST Engineering as our MRO solutions provider for the first PRSV service for all our engines. This partnership reinforces our focus on operational efficiency and is a testament to our commitment towards delivering the highest standards of safety and reliability in global aviation.”

“With ST Engineering’s expertise and innovative technologies, we are confident that our fleet will continue to operate at peak performance, ensuring a seamless and reliable travel experience for our customers,” he added.

Tay Eng Guan, SVP/Head, Engine Services at ST Engineering, said, “ST Engineering’s appointment as Akasa Air’s exclusive LEAP-1B engine MRO solutions provider for the first PRSV service reflects strong confidence in our deep expertise and ability to be a trusted long-term partner.”

“This milestone partnership also underlines our growing support for the LEAP-1B engines, and our commitment to help airlines focus on their operations and business growth while we maintain their engines.”

ST Engineering was the first independent MRO provider in Asia to join CFM International’s LEAP engine maintenance network under a CFM Branded Service Agreement in 2023. Its aerospace business has recently expanded its LEAP-1A and LEAP-1B engine testing capabilities at its Singapore facility, further enhancing its capacity to support airlines like Akasa Air.
