French defence firm, Thales, which has a longstanding presence in Indonesia of over 40 years is showcasing its wide range of products at the show. Thales has seen much success in the Indonesian defence sector in recent years, with naval modernisation programmes, air defence radars, and its involvement in DEFEND ID. At the ongoing show, Thales is showcasing its STARStreak Short Range Air Defence (SHORAD) High Velocity Missile. Thales has provided air defence and surveillance solutions to Indonesia since 2015. The STARStreak short-range, man-portable, air-defence (MANPADS) system was designed and developed to engage fast, evasive, or heavily armoured pop-up targets within a short timeframe. STARStreak’s unique design differentiates it from other SHORAD missiles.
Thales is a key naval systems supplier with its equipment on-board every Indonesian Navy fleet and as a result, is well-equipped to support Indonesia’s naval modernisation. Among the products being showcased is the TACTICOS, whose open standards technology and a massive amount of subsystems interface implementations make it the core of the mission solution. With new features carefully designed for mission packages, this year’s release enables customers to easily set up networks in coalitions with secure internet access, quickly recognize traffic trends and anomalous behaviour, and apply 3D net-centric training integrated in TACTICOS. Thales experts are also providing briefings on its vehicle protection solutions including ECLIPSE, a software defined jamming solution which can be easily configured and programmed, protecting Armed Forces operating in areas with Improvised Explosive Device threats.
