Vietjet Signs Deals for 150 New Aircraft

Vietjet Aviation Joint Stock Company (Vietjet) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Airbus for the purchase of an additional 50 A321neo single-aisle aircraft. The agreement worth US$6.5 billion was signed by Vietjet Vice President Dinh Viet Phuong and Eric Schulz, Airbus Chief Commercial Officer at Farnborough Airshow.

 

The latest agreement will see Vietjet’s current order for the A320 Family rise to 171 aircraft, which includes 123 A321neo and A321ceo aircraft. Delivery will take place from now until 2025.

 

Vietjet and Airbus have partnered in various projects ranging from safety, technics and operation management. A Full Flight Simulator located in Ho Chi Minh City under cooperation between Vietjet and Airbus is nearing its final phase of completion and will be ready for operation this October.

 

Vietjet also signed an agreement with Boeing Commercial Airlines for 100 of their B737 Max aircraft. The deal is valued at US$12.7 billion and was completed by Vietjet President and CEO Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao and Kevin McAllister, President & CEO of Boeing Commercial Airlines.

 

As part of the deal with Boeing, Vietjet has also committed to deploying a series of strategic partnership programs to develop modern aviation services in Vietnam, including Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO), training for pilots, technicians, engineers, and additionally special programs for enhancing the management and automation capabilities for airlines in the Vietnam aviation industry as a whole.
