Orbit Wins Contract for Naval Satellite Systems in Asia

Our Bureau - : Aug 28, 2024 - : 10:30 pm

Orbit Communication Systems Ltd., a provider of satellite communication systems for maritime and airborne use, has announced a USD 6 million contract with an Asian partner to supply satellite communication systems for new naval military platforms. The systems, named OceanTRx 7MIL, will be delivered from 2025 to 2030 and will offer continuous satellite connectivity across different frequencies for a global naval fleet.

Daniel Ashchar, CEO of Orbit, stated, “This order represents another significant milestone in expanding our order backlog this year. We are proud to continue our partnership with a leading Asian integrator, delivering Orbit’s cutting-edge systems for a prominent global fleet. The OceanTRx 7Mil platform underscores our leadership in military marine communication solutions, offering a dual-band capability that meets both military and civilian needs on a single system. We are committed to building a significant backlog to support our ongoing growth as a leading company in our field.”

The OceanTRx 7MIL system is part of a series of maritime satellite communication terminals used by NATO and allied navies for over 30 years. It provides reliable, high-capacity communication for navy vessels in challenging conditions and supports various antenna configurations. With a 2.2-metre diameter, the system operates on X, Ku, Ka, and C frequencies, allowing for simultaneous global operations. The system can be connected to an Orbit switching matrix, enabling multiple internal connections and the switching of up to eight antennas and eight modems as needed.

Designed to function in the complex electromagnetic environment of modern warships, the OceanTRx 7MIL has minimal impact on other onboard systems. It is also designed for ease of installation, maintenance, and upgrades, providing reliable performance for defence applications.
