Pierroberto Folgiero, CEO of Fincantieri, has been recognised as ‘CEO of the Year 2024’ in the Defence and Cruise sector at the prestigious European CEO Awards. The accolade, presented by the European CEO publication, highlights Folgiero’s leadership in steering the company through significant growth and innovation.
The award citation praised Folgiero for his “thoughtful and consistent presence” in the cruise and defence sectors, as well as his strong commitment to environmental sustainability and technological innovation within the shipyard industry. Under his guidance, Fincantieri has navigated a period of transformation and success, driven by the company’s 2023-2027 strategic plan.
The jury also commended the role of Fincantieri in the post-Covid recovery of the cruise sector, noting the company’s robust order book and its ongoing dedication to research and development. Of particular note is the company’s ambition to launch the first zero-emission ship by 2035, reflecting its commitment to innovation and sustainability in maritime operations.
