Aselsan, which has a strong presence at DIMDEX 2024, aims to develop sustainable capabilities that reinforce the firmly established mutual trust between Türkiye and Qatar, support increased operational capacity, and provide top-of-the-line defense solutions to end-users in Qatar, says Company President & CEO Ahmet Akyol.
The strong bond and unwavering support between Türkiye and Qatar have led to a concentrated effort on defense, aiming to protect the rights of both nations. “We as Aselsan, are continuously seeking effective innovation while remaining mindful of our clients’ needs,” says Akyol. The company is committed to expanding its local investments in Qatar through the establishment of manufacturing plants, technology transfer, and sharing know-how and experience to support the local military and industrial infrastructure, he adds.
As part of the company’s “global to local” business approach, Aselsan has consolidated its presence in Qatar by establishing a regional Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) Center “Aselsan QSTP-B” office in Doha. “The Aselsan MRO Center is dedicated to carrying out maintenance, repair, overhaul, training, and technical operations,” says Akyol. “The office resonates with Aselsan’s ambition of offering its deep expertise in its comprehensive engineering capabilities to its clients while providing round-the-clock support to meet their requirements on-site with the highest priority.”
Aselsan continues to cooperate with the Qatari Authorities to develop the most innovative technologies, aiming to ensure self-sufficiency in national protection, says Akyol. “We are continuously seeking ways to create sustainable value and expand our presence in the region. In this regard, we will continue to supply our high-end products and unique solutions to meet the specific requirements of our valued clients and partners. At DIMDEX 2024, we are showcasing our advanced capabilities in Naval System Solutions, Military Communication Systems, Remote Controlled Weapon Stations, Electro-Optics, Weapon Sights, Guidance Kits, RF Jammers, Radars, and Coastal Security Solutions.”
Aselsan places significant emphasis on innovative technology, research and development, and the success of end users, adds Akyol. “With this approach, we are dedicated to fulfilling Qatar’s vision of revolutionizing the State’s defense and security sector as per Qatar National Vision 2030 while protecting Qatar’s values and assets.”
Eye-catching Growth: The company had a glittering 2023, with its net profit rising by net profit increased by 72 percent to TL 9.8 billion for the first nine months of the year while its gross profit rose 75 percent. The company’s turnover during the period was TL 32.1 billion, a growth of 81 percent compared to the same period in 2022. The first nine months of 2023 also saw Aselsan record its largest-ever backlog, of USD 10.8 billion. Among the major accomplishments were the development of Turkey’s first autonomous underwater vehicle Deringoz and the Albatros Kamikaze Unmanned Surface Vehicle Swarm.
