Elbit Systems policy to expand its activities in Asia has had impressive results.
The Israeli company was awarded a contract valued at approximately US$153 million to supply an Army of a country in Southeast Asia with a comprehensive, multi-layered array of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS). The contract will be performed over a 22-month period.
The Israeli company did not specify the country that signed the contract but in recent months the Philippines negotiated a deal that included such systems.
Under the contract, Elbit Systems will supply a networked multi-layered UAS solution, including more than a thousand THOR Multi-Rotor Vertical Takeoff and Landing (VTOL) mini-UAS, scores of Skylark LEX, Skylark 3 and Hermes 450 tactical UAS as well as Universal Ground Control Stations.
Sources said on October 6 that at least some of the UAS to be supplied to the Philippines will be manufactured in India.
In 2018 Elbit Systems and Indian company Adani Defense and Aerospace opened a joint production facility in Southern India for production of components for Hermes series UAS.
