Qatar’s Hamad International Airport (DOH) announced that it has reclaimed the title of the “World’s Best Airport” at the prestigious 2024 Skytrax World Airport Awards in Frankfurt, Germany on Wednesday (Apr. 17). It also secured ‘World’s Best Airport Shopping’ for the second year and “Best Airport in the Middle East” for the tenth consecutive year.
The recognition stems from evaluations by air travellers, who assessed its performance across key indicators, ranking it as the top choice among over 500 global airport contenders.
“This is a remarkable achievement for Hamad International Airport, as it celebrates its 10th anniversary of operational excellence, connecting passengers seamlessly from all around the world. It is a testament to the dedication of our team and partners, who have contributed to providing passengers with the finest travel experience,” said Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, Qatar Airways Group CEO.
“Our continuous investment in our facilities and pioneering initiatives in retail and hospitality within a single expansive terminal has made this achievement possible,” he added.
He further highlighted passenger-centric initiatives like ‘Souq Al Matar’ and ‘Orchard’ in the airport, emphasising their role in exceeding travellers’ expectations.
In 2023, Hamad International Airport achieved a significant milestone with a notable surge in passenger traffic, serving over 45 million passengers—a remarkable 31% increase compared to the previous year, surpassing the momentum set during the historic FIFA World Cup. The airport also welcomed esteemed new airline partners, including Vistara, Iberia, Xiamen Airlines, Garuda Indonesia, and Japan Airlines, and now serves over 250 destinations encompassing passenger, cargo, and chartered flights.
Looking ahead, Hamad International Airport plans to enhance connectivity and support Qatar’s global event-hosting efforts, aligning with the Qatar National Vision 2030.
