During its Capital Markets Day event in Madrid on Wednesday (Mar. 6), Indra revealed its latest Strategic Plan, titled “Leading the Future.” The plan outlines the company’s ambition to become the central coordinator of Spain’s defence and aerospace ecosystem within 10 years while playing a significant role in European security and sovereignty. Its focus in the upcoming years will revolve around defence, aerospace, and advanced digital technologies to secure the future through technological progress.
Marc Murtra, Chairman of Indra, highlighted the importance of this initiative, stating, “The aim of Leading the Future is to turn Indra into the flagship Spanish multinational firm for defence, aerospace, and advanced digital technologies.” Murtra emphasized the need for Spain to achieve true strategic autonomy and positioned Indra to lead this national ecosystem within the next decade.
Outlined within the plan are strategic guidelines aimed at accelerating Indra’s transition into a multi-domain national reference in defence, expanding its presence in air and land programmes, and developing capabilities in the space domain. Additionally, the company aims to solidify its position as a global leader in Air Traffic Management (ATM) while strengthening its role as an advanced technology and services coordinator across industries in Europe and Latin America.
Jose Vicente de los Mozos, CEO of Indra, stressed the importance of transforming the company’s culture, management, processes, and operations to achieve these objectives. The plan includes simplifying and focusing Indra’s product range to align with customer needs, driving innovation, and investing over €3 billion in Research, Development, and Innovation (RDI) until 2030.
Indra’s transformation will also involve the establishment of the Indra Technology Hub, a state-of-the-art integrated technological centre expected to be operational by 2026. This hub will focus on research and development of cutting-edge technologies for the defence and aerospace sectors.
The plan places a significant emphasis on Indra’s defence business, aiming to become a key coordinator in European programmes and a reference in defence system integration. It also highlights Indra’s vision to become the world’s number one in Air Traffic Management.
Furthermore, Indra aims to strengthen its position in the space domain, develop a dual civil-military offering, and expand its presence in key markets such as Europe, the Middle East, and Latin America through its subsidiary, Minsait. The company plans to achieve these goals through strategic partnerships, mergers, and acquisitions.
Indra also pledges to reinforce its commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, with specific goals outlined in a new 2024-2026 plan. Financially, the company aims to achieve sales exceeding €6 billion by 2026, with a focus on improving efficiency metrics and maintaining a stable dividend payout ratio.
Indra’s Strategic Plan, “Leading the Future,” signals a significant evolution for the company as it positions itself to drive innovation, foster economic growth, and enhance competitiveness in the defence and aerospace sectors both nationally and internationally.
